SAFETY INFORMATION
1. Any setup, adjustment, or service not covered in this manual should be performed by a
qualified service technician only. Service work performed by non-authorized personnel will
void all warranties.
2. Contact your local service center or Position Dynamics directly if there are any questions
on the operation of the seating system.
3. Inspect the seating system before each use. Do not use the seating system if any parts are
missing, broken or are not operating properly. For assistance contact your local dealer or
Position Dynamics customer service at 1-800-695-0081.
4. Do not exceed the guidelines for use indicated in this manual.
5. Do not shift your weight outside the frame of the seating system such as to reach
forward or to either side to pick up an object from the floor. This may cause the seating
system on the power base to tip over and may cause personal or property damage.
6. Do not stand on any part of the seating system.
7. Do not lift or move the seating system using adjustable or removable parts, such as
armrests or leg rests. This may cause personal or property damage.
8. Use caution when transferring the user into and out of the seating system .
9. To avoid damage and prevent injury, avoid activating the tilt and/or recline function near
walls, furniture or other obstacles. Be sure other people are clear of the seating system
before
operation.
10. When driving the power base it is recommended the system be in the neutral position.
Driving with the Optima™ seating system at a tilt and/or recline of 5º or greater may
result in damage to the system.
11. Do not change or modify tilt or recline settings as it may increase the risk of a fall or tip-over.
12. This product may be equipped with a position belt (optional) that is only intended for
mild restraint. It is not designed to withstand high stress loads.
13. Do not sit in this seating system while in a moving vehicle. Move to an approved vehicle
seat. While seating system is transported, make certain it is stable and secure so that it
cannot roll or shift.
14. Do not expose the Optima™ seating system to water. Should the Optima™ seating
system come into contact with water, the following steps must be performed to ensure
your seating system remains safe and reliable:
• Using a soft, dry towel, remove as much as the water as possible.
• Allow for the Optima™ seating system to dry overnight, allowing time for the remaining
moisture
to
evaporate.
• Verify that your seating system functions normally before returning your seating system
to
service.
• Should the Optima™ seating system not function normally, contact your local service center.
15. Do not expose your Optima seating system to extreme temperatures. Keep the seating
system in an environment with an ambient temperature between 18º F and 122º F. Failure
to do so will result in a reduction of normal electrical and mechanical efficiency, and may
shorten the life of the seating system.
16. Keep body parts, clothing and personal effects clear of the seating system’s moving
components.
