3. A standard Vi' conduit opening has been made in the water

heater junction box for the conduit connection.

4. Use wire nuts and connect the power supply wiring to the

wires inside the water heater’s junction box,

5. The water heater must be electrically “grounded” by the

installer. A green ground screw has been provided on the

water heater’s junction box. Connect ground wire to this
location. For complete grounding details and all allowable
exceptions, refer to the latest edition of the National
Electrical Code.

6. Replace the wiring junction cover using the screw

provided.

Venting

AWARNING

To insure proper venting of this gas-fired water heater, the cor­

rect vent pipe diameter must be utilized. Any additions of

other gas appliances on vent with this water heater will
adversely affect the operation of the water heater.

The vent pipe from the water heater must be 3" diameter

PVC schedule 40 pipe and must slope upward 1/4 inch per

linear foot.

The combustion and ventilation air flow must not be obstructed.

All vent gases must be completely vented to the outdoors of the

structure (dwelling).

AWARNING

The water heater with draft hood installed must be properly

vented to a chimn^ which terminates outdoors. Never oper­

ate the water heater unless it is vented to the outdoors and has
adequate air mpply to avoid risks of improper operation, explo­
sion or asphyxiation.

Obstructed or deteriorated vent systems may present a serious

health risk or asphyxiation.

Failure to have required clearances between water heater and

combustible material vnTI result in a fire hazard.
