Adjust the mower

drive cable end (S, Pigs. 42 & 44 and S,
Fig. 48 on the following page) or relocate
the adjustable pulley (B, Fig. 42 or X, Fig.
44) within its slot on the idler support

bracket. If further adjustment is
necessary, move mower ahead by

adjusting pivot location on lift arms (E,

Fig. 45). Repeat this test until belt does
not move. Check mower leveling after

adjusting pivots (E).

MOWER DECK BRAKE
ADJUSTMENTS

If the mower deck pulleys do not stop
rotating within 5 seconds after placing the
mower blade drive lever (F, page 17) into

the disengaged (DOWN) position, adjust
as follows:

WARNING!

BEFORE ADJUSTING THE MOWER

DECK BLADE BRAKE, SHUT THE

ENGINE OFF, APPLY THE PARKING

BRAKE, ALLOW THE ENGINE TO COOL,

DISCONNECT THE SPARK PLUG WIRE

AND PREVENT IT FROM TOUCHING

THE SPARK PLUG, AND REMOVE THE

KEY FROM THE KEYSWITCH.

FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS

INSTRUCTION COULD RESULT IN

PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY

DAMAGE.

Adjustment

1. Move mower blade drive lever to the
disengaged (DOWN) position.

2. Adjust cable and spring (K, Figs. 46 &
48) at nuts (R, Figs. 46 & 48) until all
slack in spring (K, Fig. 46) has been taken

up.

WHEN ADJUSTED, SPRING (K)

SHOULD NOT BE UNDER TENSION

3. If brake pad (A, Fig. 46) is not centered
in pulley (B), Adjust idler arm pivot (D) as
necessary, by re-locating washers at pivot.

4. If blade still does not stop within 5
seconds after the mower drive has been
disengaged, replace brake pad (A).

1. Move mower blade drive lever to the
