Adjusting the Blade Engagement Cable

BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, STOP THE ENGINE AND

DISCONNECT THE

SPARK PLUG WIRE.

NOTE: If the Blade will not cut, or seems to slip in heavy material, check the Blade Engagement Cable.

When properly adjusted, tension on the Blade Engagement Lever should decrease when the Lever is
about parallel to (almost touching) the Handlebar Grip. Replace the Clutch if the problem continues.

BE SURE THE BLADE ENGAGEMENT LEVER DOES NOT STAY IN THE ENGAGED POSITION WITHOUT THE
OPERATOR HOLDING THE LEVER.

Tool Needed:

(2) 1/2" Open End Wrench

1. Tip the machine forward and stabilize it.

2. Under the machine, on the right hand side, there is a Bracket for adjusting the Blade Engagement

Cable (Figure 22). To tighten the cable, loosen the Front Nut on the threaded side of the Bracket by
1/8" to 1/4" using a 1/2" Open End Wrench, and then tighten the Nut on the back against the
Bracket using another 1/2" Open End Wrench. Check the tension on the Blade Lever and repeat
the adjustment as needed. To loosen the cable, just back off the Nut from the back of the Bracket.

3. Re-tighten the Front Nut when finished all adjustments.
