Charging

When charging a single 12 V battery, the 12 V ready indicator lights up:

When charging a single 24 V battery or charging 2 x 12 V batteries in series, the 24 V ready
indicator lights up:

Flashing indicators represent a charge level of up to 80% in the batteries, e.g.:

Steady-lit indicators represent a battery that is charged up to 100 %. Once the battery is
fully charged, the charger automatically switches to trickle charging to prevent the battery
from self-discharging. The battery can remain connected to the charger for any length of
time.

Deep discharge
protection in
standby mode

If the charger is not connected to the mains but a battery is connected to terminal P1,
standby mode will ensue. Standby mode ensures that the FireCAN option remains func-
tional irrespective of whether or not mains power is available. A standby current, which is
generally so small as to be negligible, is taken from the battery.

To protect the battery from deep discharge, standby mode is aborted if it has been in use
for an unusually long period. This situation can be identified by the fact that the battery volt-
age falls excessively low. For more information on this, see the leaflet.

Deep discharge protection is activated only with 12 V batteries.

Defective fuse
function

The defective fuse function automatically detects when two batteries are being charged to-
gether in series. If this charging configuration changes, the fault indicator will flash three
times; this may indicate a faulty fuse.
