Hot technique (layering technique)

When used together with Hot Liquid, SR Ivocron can be
mixed to a smooth consistency. In this way, the veneer can
be easily layered. The excellent material quality is achieved
by polymerization in the pressure apparatus at a minimum
temperature of 100 °C (212 °F). This technique is preferable
for long-term temporaries and inexpensive crowns and
bridges.

Fabricating the framework
Use metal to fabricate the palatal and incisal frameworks of
anterior bridges or the occlusal area of posterior bridges.
Apply mechanical retentions (e.g. SR Micro and SR Macro
Retention Beads from Ivoclar Vivadent) on the veneering
surface.

Isolation
Block out undercuts with pink wax. Then, immerse the
model in water for 5 minutes. Apply two layers of Separating
Fluid. Wait until the surface is no longer shiny before
applying the second layer.

Bond
Use aluminium oxide to blast the metal parts of the
bridge, which will be veneered. Since the opaquer does not
chemically bond to metal, mechanical retentions have to be
applied on the metal.

Tip
We recommend using SR Link for the chemical bond to
metal. Blast framework with aluminium oxide and remove
grinding dust. Wet it with SR Link and allow it to dry for
3 minutes.

Opaquer
Mix the desired opaquer with the SR Ivocron Opaquer
Liquid, cover it, and let it sit for approx. 2–3 minutes. After
that, mask the area to be veneered. The SR Ivocron
Opaquer is self-curing. Polymerization is completed after
approx. 15 minutes.

Tip
Before proceeding, use a suitable instrument to check
whether the material has cured completely.

Dentin and Incisal
Mix the desired SR Ivocron Dentin or Incisal powder in a
rubber cup, cover it, and let it sit for approx. 2–3 minutes.
Replace the framework on the isolated model. Then, layer
the veneer using a brush or other suitable instrument.

Polymerization
Polymerization is carried out in the pressure apparatus (e.g.
Ivomat) for 30 minutes at 100 °C (212 °F) and 2–6 bar
pressure (29–85 psi).

Tip
Off the model, polymerization can be carried out in the
pressure apparatus (e.g. Ivomat) for 10 minutes at
120 °C (248 °F) and 2–6 bar pressure (29–85 psi). The
stone would be destroyed at these temperatures.

Finishing, polishing
Finish the restoration according to the standard procedure
for PMMA materials, i.e. finishing with burs and rubber
polishers, pre-polishing with goat's hair brushes and
pumice, and polishing to a high gloss with cotton wool
buffers and polishing medium (e.g. Ivoclar Vivadent
Universal Polishing Paste).
