LOFC: The loss of frame count parameter represents a
count of ‘Carrier Failure’ condition declarations, according
to the following criteria:

A carrier failure condition is declared if a LOS or OOF
condition persists for 2.5 seconds. For intermittent LOS or
OOF conditions, the following time integration method is
applied. The decay time (time subtract) slope during a
normal signal should be 20% of the rise slope. The carrier
failure condition is cleared when 1 second passes without
a LOS or OOF condition occurring.

SS: The slip seconds parameter is the count of one-second
intervals during which a frame slip occurred. Frame slips
occur only if ‘Internal’ or ‘Network’ clocking is selected.

Alarm Indication Signal Seconds (AISS), Remote Alarm
Seconds (RAS), and Bipolar Violation Seconds (BPVS).

Maintenance Screen

The ‘

Maintenance

’ screen (Screen 4 -5) allows the user

to perform test and maintenance functions on the E1 circuit.
BERT is performed using on-board test facilities. Therefore,
no other test equipment is needed. Actions initiated by each
field are detailed in the following paragraphs.

Clear Tests: Pressing <return> on this field clears all tests
and any loops that have been initiated.
