Chapter 4. ESCON/FICON CU Configuration
A CU on the CCA-3074 can be thought of as a logical Control Unit image. Each CU
corresponds to a CTRLUNIT macro in the IOCDS. The CCA-3074 supports up to 16 CU
images per ESCON interface. Each CU can have up to 32 devices (TN3270 sessions)
associated with it determined by the address range defined in the CTRLUNIT statement
(each device uses a separate subchannel), but there is a maximum of 256 sessions per
ESCON interface allowed. Each TN3270 session corresponds to an IODEVICE in the
IOCDS. Note that a single IODEVICE macro can call out multiple devices (multiple
subchannels), with each device being a separate TN3270 session.
To define and configure CUs on the CCA-3074, select the [Connectivity] button from the
Configuration menu.
