Printing with an empty color ink cartridge
Even if the color ink cartridge is empty, you can still print
documents with black ink as long as both cartridges are
installed. To continue printing when the

ink out light is lit
continuously, turn the printer off and back on again. Be aware
that any data you sent to the printer before turning it off will be
lost.
Note:
The empty color ink cartridge must be installed.
Before sending data to the printer, choose Black as the Ink
setting in the printer driver. For details on the printer driver
settings, see online help for Windows, or Chapter 6 for
Macintosh.
To switch back to color printing, you must install a new color
ink cartridge as described in this chapter, and then turn the
printer off and back on again.
If the black ink runs out, you cannot continue printing until
you replace it even through the color ink cartridge still contains
ink.
