Noise Reduction Settings

Long Exposure Noise Reduction

For images exposed for 1 sec. or longer, noise (dots of light and banding)

typical of long exposures can be reduced.

Set a reduction option.

[AUTO] Auto

For exposures of 1 sec. or longer, noise reduction is performed

automatically if noise typical of long exposures is detected. This

[Auto]

setting is eff ective enough in most cases.

[ON] Enable

Noise reduction is performed for all exposures of 1 sec. or longer. The

[Enable]

setting may reduce noise that cannot be detected with the

[Auto]

setting.

With

[Auto]

or

[Enable]

set, the noise reduction process after the picture is

taken may take the same amount of time as that for the exposure.

o

Images may look grainier with the

[Enable]

setting than with the

[Disable]

or

[Auto]

setting.

o

With

[Enable]

set, noise reduction processing (indicated by “

buSY

” display)

when you shoot long exposures during Live View display will pause Live View

display, and you cannot shoot again until processing is fi nished.
