5-speed Automatic Overdrive with Tow/Haul

• Optional on all Super Duty Pickups with gasoline or diesel engines
• Torque converter design maximizes low-speed torque output
• All-new more robust gear sets and a three-plate two-stage torque converter help

reduce turbine noise when the converter is locked

• Large fluid pump provides superior lubrication and cooling
• Pure electronic shift controls work with the Electronic Throttle Control of the engine to

optimize shifts and vehicle performance and responsiveness

• When hauling a heavy load or trailer, the Tow/Haul mode reduces gear hunting,

improves power delivery and even uses engine braking to help control vehicle speed
when descending hills

• Transmission can be equipped with power

takeoff port — must specify order code
62R (PTO obstructed by catalyst
placement on 5.4L and 6.8L engines)

6-speed Manual Overdrive

• Standard with all Super Duty

®

Pickup engines

• First five gears provide optimum

close-ratio performance

• Overdrive 6th gear reduces

engine rpm at highway speeds,
adding to vehicle fuel economy
and quiet operation

• Features a standard

transmission cooler

• Standard power takeoff (PTO)

port provided on the left-hand
side of transmission case
– PTO obstructed by catalyst

placement on 5.4L and
6.8L engines

NOTE: Some modification may be required to install the PTO unit on 6.8L vehicles.

Auxiliary Power Features

Transmission Power Takeoff (PTO) Provision

• A power takeoff (PTO) provision is an added benefit for

customers with specific power needs

• Allows upfitters to supply power to hydraulically driven

accessories such as dump bodies, sprayers, pumps,
generators, etc.

• Option code 62R must be ordered to get a PTO gear

and port with the TorqShift 5-speed automatic transmission

• 6-speed manual overdrive transmission has a PTO gear

and port standard

• The optional upfitter switches may be used as PTO

control switch(es)

NOTES: Power takeoff (PTO) obstructed by catalyst placement on
5.4L- and 6.8L-equipped vehicles.

Stationary Elevated Idle Control (SEIC)

• Acts as the “throttle kicker,” when increased engine speed

is needed

• Consists of strategy embedded in the powertrain control

module (PCM) and a set of blunt-cut wires to command it

• Selling dealer will need to obtain a PTO controller or

switch from the aftermarket

NOTE: Option 66S, “Upfitter Switches,” one of which may be
used as a PTO switch.
• Engine speeds

– 910 to 2400 rpm (5.4L and 6.8L gasoline engines)
– 1200 to 2400 rpm (6.4L diesel engine)

• Automatically locks the torque converter

– Gives power to the PTO gear for the TorqShift automatic

transmission when the operator turns on the PTO switch

• Instructions to upfitters for completing the SEIC/PTO
