11.2 MARITIME MOBILE SERVICE IDENTITY (MMSI)

11.2.1 What is an MMSI?

An MMSI is a nine digit number used on Marine Transceivers capable of using
Digital Selective Calling (DSC). This number is used like a telephone number to
selectively call other vessels.

THIS NUMBER MUST BE PROGRAMMED INTO THE RADIO TO OPERATE
THE GX3000S DSC FUCTIONS.

11.2.2 Programming the MMSI

WARNING

User MMSI can be input only twice. If the user tries to input an MMSI
more than twice, the radio will show the display on
the right. If the user needs to change the MMSI
more than twice, the transceiver will have to be
sent to Factory Service. Refer to the section “15.2.
FACTORY SERVICE.”

1. Press and hold down the [CALL(MENU)] key until

the “Radio Setup” menu appears.

2. Turn the CHANNEL selector knob to the left to se-

lect “DSC Setup” menu.

3. Press the [ENT] key, then select “User MMSI” with

the CHANNEL selector knob.

4. Press the [ENT] key. The display will show a series

of dashes or the last MMSI number if programmed.

5. Turn the CHANNEL selector knob or press the

[UP( )] / [DOWN( )] key on the microphone to se-
lect the first number of your MMSI, then press the
[ENT] key to step to the next number.

6. Repeat step 5 to set your MMSI (up to nine digits).
7. When finished programming the number, press and

hold the [ENT] key to store the number in memory.

8. To exit this menu and return to radio operation mode

press the [16/9] key.
