This section explains how to connect AV 5140 or AV 5120 loudspeakers

with the rest of your system.

The AV 5140 loudspeaker provides separate connections to the treble,

midrange, and bass crossovers and drivers, and the AV 5120 loudspeaker

provides separate connections to the treble and midrange/bass crossovers

and drivers. You can use separate cables between the power amplifier and

each section of the loudspeaker (bi-wiring or tri-wiring), or to use a

separate power amplifier for each section of the loudspeaker (bi-amping

or tri-amping).

Using separate cables for each driver improves the subjective performance

of the loudspeakers by reducing the coupling between the signals.

Using bare wires

The sockets are designed so you can connect to them using either plugs

or bare wires. To use bare wire connections undo the terminal collar, using

the key provided, and insert the wire through the hole in the pillar. Then

tighten the terminal collar to secure the wire.

Installing the linking plates

Use the key provided to remove the adjacent pairs of terminal collars,

install the linking plate, and replace the terminal collars.
