Receive mode

Problem

Cause & Remedy

I cannot select the desired receive
mode.

If you want to set the TAD/FAX, FAX ONLY or TEL/FAX mode:
– Select the desired mode using feature #77 (p. 79), and
– Press

to turn on the AUTO ANSWER light.

If you want to set the TEL mode:
– Press

to turn off the AUTO ANSWER light.

Copying

Problem

Cause & Remedy

The unit does not make a copy.

A dirty pattern or a black line
appears on the copied document.

The copied image is distorted.

The printing quality is poor.

The printing is faint.

You cannot make a copy during programming. Make the copy
after programming or stop the programming.

The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 132).

The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 133).

Some paper has instructions recommending which side to print
on. Try turning the paper over. We recommend smooth paper
such as Hammermill

Jet Print for clearer printing.

You may have used paper with a cotton and/or fiber content that
is over 20%, such as letterhead or resume paper. We recommend
smooth paper such as Hammermill

Problem

Cause & Remedy

No voice messages have been
recorded in the TAD/FAX mode.

I cannot retrieve recorded messages
from a remote telephone.

While operating the answering
device from the handset, a series of
tones is heard.

I cannot operate the answering
device with the handset.

The memory is full. Erase some or all of the messages
(p. 102, 110).

Make sure that you use the remote operation ID correctly
(p. 108).

Someone is calling you from outside. Press

to answer

the outside call. The remote operation will be terminated.

Someone is operating the answering device.

You are too far from the main unit. Move toward it.
