MGS Multi-Gun Source - Maintenance

1. Turn MGS control unit power OFF and re-

move defective gun's low voltage cable from
control unit.

2. Connect LTST5000 tester cable to defective
gun's Low Voltage Cable Socket on MGS
control unit. For MGS 2000C short defective
guns air flow switch inside cabinet. For MGS
2001 short only air flow switch inside cabinet.

3. Move switch on LTST5000 Tester to FRONT
PANEL KV METER position.

4. Turn MGS control unit ON and turn high voltage
adjust knob fully clockwise.

5. Read the MGS control unit front panel kV meter.
Reading should be rated kV of gun

+

/- 5 kV.

Turn the MGS control unit OFF. Remove short
from air flow switch.

If the voltage read correctly, the problem is not in
the control unit, and the cable and spraygun (and
High Voltage Module for MGS 2000C) should be
checked for the cause. If proper readings are not
obtained, the problem is with the MGS control unit.
Consult the Troubleshooting Guide section to
locate the specific problem.

1. Turn AC power to the MGS 2000C control unit
OFF.

2. Remove the high voltage (HV) cable from the
defective gun's high voltage module.

At the spraygun, ground is passed

from the gun cable to the handle via the
set screw at the bottom, front of the
handle. Ensure this screw is completely
tightened and repeat step 4 before
replacing the gun cable.

When a lack of high voltage at the spraygun
indicates a problem, perform a Control Unit Output
Test on the MGS control unit to determine whether
it is at fault.

For MGS 2001 units, the LTST5000

Test Assembly can also be used to test
the low voltage gun cable. Consult the
LTST5000 service instructions for further
information on using the LTST5000 Test
Assembly.

3. Turn the HV adjust knob fully counterclockwise.

4. Open the cabinet door and short the defective
gun's air flow switch.

5. Attach the appropriate HV cable to the 76652-
01 Test Probe, properly ground the probe to a
true earth ground, and turn the test probe met-
er on. (See Operation Manual for 76652-01
Tester).
