ment space management; thus reducing the time spent moving material
within the warehouse. During an inventory move, receipt, replenishment,
or put away, IntelliTrack WMS RF Professional ensures that the destina-
tion can accommodate the item quantity. If the location destination is too
small, you are prompted to either over fill or find a new or empty location.

Item cubic space is implemented at the Item Data form. When the cubing
feature is enabled in the System Options form/Features tab, a Cube Size
field appears after the Unit Cost field in the Item Data form\Units Of
Measure
tab.

If Cubing and Multiple Units of Measure (UOM) are selected during
setup, you must enter a cubic size for each item’s unit of measure (UOM)
to fully implement cubing. (For more information about the UOM setting
in the Item Data form, please refer to

“Establishing an Item Unit of Measure

Range” on page 116

.)

Assigning Cubic Size to an Item

IntelliTrack WMS uses a basic concept for space management, based on a
relative numeric value of location space to item storage space require-
ments. To assign item cubic space:

1.

Analyze the types of items in your inventory.

2.

Assign a “cubic size” value to each item’s unit of measure. (The cubic
size of an item represents the amount of storage space needed for that
item.) This value may be exact, or a close estimate, depending on your
storage requirements, and WMS objectives.
