Unit of Measure

Units of Measure define a base unit (each) of measure-
ment, and then higher increments of the base unit such as
carton, bundle, and case for the items in stock. You are
able to list your defined units of measure at the Units of
Measure Lookup table. Listing them here makes them
available as UOM selections in various forms in Intelli-
Track WMS.

User (also User ID)

A person who is authorized to use the system. By creating
users, you are able to set login and password security, as
well as track application usage.

Vendor

One who supplies or sells goods.

Warehouse

A building where goods and merchandise are stored.

Wave

Picking orders that are grouped together for picking. Also
referred to as “batched orders.” Wave selection criteria
such as date range, customer, and carrier allow you to
assemble picking orders into distinct groups.

Wave Picking

In IntelliTrack WMS RF Professional, the Waves process
is based upon efficiently grouping orders into batches for
picking and then assigning pickers for each wave group.

WMS Architecture

IntelliTrack WMS is built on the three-tier architecture rec-
ommended by Microsoft for client/server environments.
Three separate areas integrate to form your IntelliTrack
WMS product: the workstation application, the server, and
the database; thus forming a scalable client/server that
can handle a large number of users against a large data-
base. IntelliTrack WMS minimizes network traffic by shift-
ing transactions to the back end through a middle tier that
provides accessibility to upgrades.

Work Machine

Refers to the desktop computer. Also referred to as the
PC (personal computer).

Workstation Application

The WMS application that is installed and used on the
desktop computer. You are able to enter Site, item, and
inventory information, receive goods into the system,
transfer goods out of the system through the picking pro-
cess, generate inventory, picking, and receiving reports,
as well as setup and enable system features and options.

Zone

A location grouping that designates an order picking area.
Use to direct picking with the RF portable.
