LIQUID FERTILIZER SYSTEM

5.2 SYSTEM FLOW DESCRIPTION

The metering pump, ground driven by the metering wheel, draws liquid fertilizer first
through the flow valve, then the main filter. The liquid fertilizer is then pumped to the
distribution system. A gauge indicates the operating pressure.

Select the appropriate size orifice to adjust the liquid fertilizer delivery pressure. The
restriction created by the orifice sets the amount of back pressure required for even
distribution of liquid fertilizer to each opener. Too low pressure will result in poor liquid
distribution and excessive pressure can damage the pump, hoses, fittings and/or drives.

NOTE: Operating pressure cannot be used as a means of system calibration as
system pressure has no direct correlation to the quantity of product applied.

Even distribution of liquid fertilizer requires that the operating pressure be set in
the recommended range.
