Certification Instructions

Warning: Do not open the detector, even when isolated, when
flammable atmosphere is present.

Use the following certification instructions:

The cable entry point may exceed 158°F (70°C) suitable precautions
should be taken when selecting the cable.

The equipment may be used with flammable gases and vapors with
apparatus groups IIA, IIB and IIC T5 in the ambient temperature
range -40°F (-40°C) to +131°F (+55°C).

Installation shall be carried out by suitably trained personnel in
accordance with the applicable code of practice e.g. EN 60079-14:1997.

Inspection and maintenance of this equipment shall be carried out by
suitably trained personnel in accordance with the applicable code of
practice e.g. EN 60079-17.

Repair of this equipment shall be carried out by suitably trained
personnel in accordance with the applicable code of practice
e.g. EN 60079-19.

The certification of this equipment relies upon the following materials
used in its construction:

Enclosure: 316L Stainless Steel

Window: Sapphire Glass

Window Cement: Ciba Geigy epoxy putty AV 138M & HV 998

Seals: Buna-n

If the equipment is likely to come into contact with aggressive
substances, then it is the responsibility of the user to take suitable
precautions that prevent it from being adversely affected, thus ensuring
that the type of protection provided by the equipment is not
compromised.

Aggressive substances: For example. acidic liquids or gases that may
attack metals, or solvents that may affect polymeric materials.

Suitable precautions: For example, regular checks as part of routine
inspections or establishing from the material’s data sheets that it is
resistant to specific chemicals.

Special conditions for safe use: The series 700S Open Path Gas
Detectors and Flash Source units shall not be used as safety related
devices in accordance with directive 94/9/EC.
