Introduction
Welcome to the Trimble Ranger Serial Repeater Programmer.
The Serial Repeater Programmer will help you program ORION repeaters to receive
transmissions from specific transmitters. Need to describe how a customer can easily identify
that they really have an ORION serial repeater (serial number label perhaps?)
Transmissions are received from an ORION transmitter and then re-transmitted by the repeater.
Serial Repeaters are typically installed in network applications to increase the transmitter
performance in areas where the transmitter is installed in a remote area far away from the
collection device.
Using the Serial Repeater Programmer, you will be able to accomplish three primary tasks:
• Program the repeater to receive transmissions from specific transmitters;
• Test to make sure the correct transmissions are being received; and
• Verify that the repeater’s re-transmissions are being received by the ORION laptop.
The Serial Repeater Programmer allows you to:
• Load up to 12 ORION water and gas transmitter serial numbers into the repeater;
• Modify the list of ORION water and gas transmitters in the repeater by adding new
transmitter serial numbers, removing ones that are no longer needed, and correcting
serial numbers;
• Verify that the correct transmissions are being received by the repeater;
• Verify that the repeater’s transmissions are being received where needed; and
• Delete a list of transmitter serial numbers.
