Managing V-VOLs
This module describes tasks for managing V-VOLs:
• Conditions for deleting V-VOLs , page 309

Conditions for deleting V-VOLs
The following restrictions apply when a V-VOL is deleted:
• The V-VOL to be deleted must not be part of a pair configuration.
• It is necessary to check whether the V-VOL to be deleted exists.
• A path between the V-VOL and any host must not be defined.
Deleting V-VOLs
The following is required before deleting V-VOLs:
• The copy pairs of the V-VOLs must be deleted
• The LUNs of the V-VOLs must be deleted with Device Manager.
To delete V-VOLs:
1. On the V-VOLs tab, select the check boxes for the V-VOLs to be deleted.
2. Click Delete V-VOLs.
The Delete V-VOLs window is displayed.
3. Review the list of selected V-VOLs to be deleted and confirm the operation.
4. Click Confirm.
Deleting multiple V-VOLs
When there are multiple V-VOLs in a parity group on an XP24000/XP20000 storage system, CVS
is required to delete some of the V-VOLs in the group. If CVS has been uninstalled from the storage
system while multiple V-VOLs were created in a parity group, the delete operation will delete all of
the V-VOLs located in the same parity group.
