Route Selection Process

Here is the route selection process the switch goes through when routing
packets to a destination:

If there is only one route to a destination, forward the packets using the
route.

If there is more than one route to a destination, select the route with
the lowest preference value.

If there is more than one route with the lowest preference value, select
the route with the lowest metric value.

If there is more than one route with the lowest metric value, select the
route with the most specific netmask.

If there is more than one route with the most specific netmask and if
Equal-Cost Multipath (ECMP) routing is enabled, distribute the
packets equally across the routes. The default setting for ECMP is
enabled.

If there is more than one route with the most specific netmask and if
Equal-Cost Multipath (ECMP) routing is disabled, select the first
remaining route.
