Note: Use any documentation that comes with the ThinkServer RAID Super Capacitor Module and follow
those instructions in addition to the instructions in this topic.

To remove the ThinkServer RAID Super Capacitor Module, do the following:

1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all

power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.

2. Prepare your server. See “Removing or extending the server from the rack cabinet” on page 63.

3. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 63.

4. Disconnect the cable of the ThinkServer RAID Super Capacitor Module from the RAID card.

5. Gently lift the plastic tab

that secures the ThinkServer RAID Super Capacitor Module. Then, slide the

ThinkServer RAID Super Capacitor Module as shown to completely remove it from the chassis.

6. If you are instructed to return the old ThinkServer RAID Super Capacitor Module, follow all packaging

instructions and use any packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.

Installing or removing a PCIe card

This topic provides instructions on how to install or remove a PCIe card, such as an Ethernet card, a RAID
card, or any other supported PCIe cards.

Note: The PCIe card is extremely sensitive to ESD. Ensure that you read and understand “Handling
static-sensitive devices” on page 62
first and carefully perform the operation.

Installing a PCIe card

Attention: Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Safety information”
on page iii
and “Guidelines” on page 61.

Before you begin, print all the related instructions or ensure that you can view the PDF version on another
computer for reference.

To install a PCIe card on the riser card assembly, do the following:
