• Use any documentation that comes with the TSM Premium and follow those instructions in addition to

the instructions in this topic.

• If you remove the TSM Premium, the iKVM function for server remote management will be unavailable.

• Depending on the model, your server might look slightly different from the illustration in this topic.

To remove the TSM Premium, do the following:

1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all

power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.

2. Prepare your server. See “Removing or extending the server from the rack cabinet” on page 63.

3. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 63.

4. Remove the riser card assembly 2. See “Replacing the riser card assembly” on page 135.

5. Locate the TSM Premium on the system board and then lift the TSM Premium straight up to remove

it from the TSM Premium connector.

6. Reinstall the riser card assembly 2. See “Replacing the riser card assembly” on page 135.

7. If you are instructed to return the old TSM Premium, follow all packaging instructions and use any

packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.

Installing or removing the ThinkServer Trusted Platform Module

The ThinkServer Trusted Platform Module (hereinafter referred to as the TPM) is a security chip designed by
the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) to provide a hardware method of data encryption. It stores passwords,
encryption keys, and digital certificates to help provide security solutions and protect the server. You can
purchase a TPM option from Lenovo.
