MAINTENANCE

General Cleaning
Clean the surface of the instrument and the LCD display with a cloth dampened with a 10% dilution of
household bleach in water. Wipe instrument with a water-dampened cloth to removal residual disinfectant
from the plastic surfaces.
Caution: Do not use a saturated or soaked cloth.
Clean the test wells using a cotton swab dampened with a 10% dilution of household bleach in water. After
cleaning, use a dry cotton swab to ensure that no liquid remains at the bottom of either test well.
Note: Follow this procedure before shipping the instrument to a service center.
Fan Filter Replacement
For those HEMOCHRON Response instruments equipped with a user serviceable filter, the filter is mounted
on the underside of the instrument and held within a plastic housing by means of a snap-in retainer plate
(see Figure 10).
To maintain optimum system performance, the underside of the filter housing must be clear to allow
unobstructed air-flow in and out of the instrument. The filter should be checked for accumulated dust or
debris on a monthly basis.
The filter can be accessed for cleaning as follows:

1.

Turn the system off.

2.

Lay the instrument on its front to expose the filter on the case bottom.

3.

Remove the retainer plate by snapping out from the housing.

4.

Remove the filter and wash with water and mild detergent. Dry the filter with a paper towel.

5.

Replace the filter and snap the retainer plate into place over the filter.

6.

Return the instrument to an upright position for operation. Be sure that airflow under the
instrument is unrestricted.
