To choose a channel from a cable box, turn the cable box on.

Recording TV
programs using
the dial timer
The Dial Timer function allows you to make timer recordings of
programs without turning on your TV. Set the recording timer to
record up to eight programs that will be broadcast within the next 24
hours using the DIAL TIMER. The recording start time and recording
stop time Can be set at 15 minute interc’als.
Before you start..
• Check that the VCR clock is set to the correct time.
• When using a cable box, tum it on.
• Insert a tape with it.s safety tab in place. Make sure the tape is lonp’cr
than the total recording time.

Press DIAL TLMEK to complete the setting.
"OK" appears in the display window for about five seconds.
The © indicator appears in the di.splay window and the VCR stands by
for rer'ording. When using a cable box, leave it on.
To stop recording
To stop the VCR while recording, press ■ STOP.
To use the VCR after setting the timer
To use the VCR before a timer recording begins, just press l/(!)- Tlie ©
indicator disappears from the display window and the VCR switches on.
Remember to press l/Cl) to reset the VCR to the timer recording standby
mode after using the VCR.
Tips
• The program is recorded in the current tape speed. To change the tape speed, press
SP/EP before you complete the setting in step 7.
• To check, change, or cancel the program setting, sec "Checking/changing/canceling
timer settings" (page 93).
Notes
• If eight programs have already been set in step 1, "Ril.L'’ appear in the display
window for about three seconds.
• If you are using cable box control, you cannot select "LI" or "i
• The © indicator flashes in the display window when you complete the .setting in
step 7 with no tape inserted,
• If "CLOCK" and "12; - - AM" appear alternately when you press the DIAL IIMHR
control, set the cJock to use the Dial Timer function (page 37).
