Verify BITS Connection

1. Ensure that BITS input cable is connected to Timing In connector on rear panel of Access Navigator

(see Figure 6-29). Plug must be pushed in until it clicks in place.

NOTE:

If the primary and secondary clock sources must be restored after testing the

BITS input, use the status clock command to display the current settings and then
restore them after the test with the set clock1 and set clock2 commands.

2. Enter following commands to assign the BITS input as the primary and secondary clock source:

set clock1 bits

set clock2 bits

3. Display clock status:

status clock

A message similar to the following will appear.

Primary:

Clock Source: BITS

Clock Status: In Service

Secondary:

Clock Source: BITS

Clock Status: In Service

NOTE:

If the Clock Status for BITS source shows “Not in Service”, the BITS clock

source is probably missing or too degraded to be used by the Access Navigator.

4. Verify that Access Navigator is using BITS clock:

Requirement:

Primary Clock Source is BITS

Requirement:

Primary Clock Status is In Service

Requirement:

Secondary Clock Source is BITS

Requirement:

Secondary Clock Status is In Service
