STEP 6 - TAMPING THE GROUND COFFEE

For ease of use, there are two handy ways to
tamper your coff ee:

1. Tamper on Board:
The tamper device is held in place, on the ma-
chine, allowing for convenient tamping.
a. Once the grind function has been complet-

ed, remove the Portafi lter from the grinding
cradle and tap to collapse the grind.

b. With the tamper fi tted into place, lift the Por-

tafi lter towards the tamper base.

c. Push the portafi lter upward fi rmly, applying

even pressure to tamp the coff ee.

d. Release the portafi lter from the tamper, and

clean any excess ground coff ee from the rim
of the portafi lter to ensure a correct fi t into
the group head.

2. Tamping

Control:

The tamper device is removable for hand tamp-
ing.
a. Remove the tamper from the machine.
b. Once the grind function has been complet-

ed, remove the Portafi lter from the grinding
cradle and tap to collapse the grind.

c. Use one hand to grip the tamper and the

other hand to hold the Portafi lter handle.

d. Apply even pressure down on the tamper

and press fi rmly in order to level and pack
the coff ee grounds.

e. Lift the tamper from the portafi lter, and

clean any excess ground coff ee from the rim
of the portafi lter to ensure a correct fi t into
the group head.
