4. Connect successively the SATA drives to the RAID subsystem by locking the
top drive carrier lock at first. You should wait for the green disk activity LED
indicator to light for each drive before locking the next drive.
Initialization and RAID status is shown by the disk activity indicators. Once a
drive has been located and its working status is confirmed, the green indicator
for that drive will light.
LED-Indicator Disk Activity
Green Disk drive is properly installed and locked
Amber Disk drive is being accessed
Red Disk drive is not present, is not properly installed, is unlocked,
or disk has failed
Red Flashing Disk drive is rebuilding data
5. The initialization process configures now the hard disk array to the
corresponding RAID level. This process is time-intensive and is depending on
the size of the installed SATA hard disks and the RAID level being initialized.
During the array initialization process, the following will be observed:
LED-Indicator Status
Green solid
Amber solid
Red flashing
Alarm intermittent
If a red disk activity LED indicator is on, ensure that the
appropriate drive is:
q locked
q installed correctly
q
not faulty (the drive should be replaced if necessary)
If system power is turned off midway through array initialization,
the process will continue from the point of interruption when
power returns.
