Setting the recording level and
balance

Setting the proper recording level is an important part of

maldng good tapes. If the recording level is too loyy, tape

hiss may mask the music’s softer parts. If the recording,

level is too high, the music.may soupd distorted. These

instructions help you set the optimum recording level.

I Put a blank tape in tape well B.

2 Press the MODE button to select the recording level

(REC LEVEL).

The mode button cycles between REC LEVEL > REC_

BAL > COUNTER and then back to REC LEVEL.

3 Press the,REC/PAUSE button.

4 Set the input of the integrated amplifier to the source

you want to record. You can't select TAPE.

5 Find a loud section from the source, you want to

record, and play it

6 Using the REC LEVEL/BAL knob, adjust the recording

level so that the level indicators flash at 0 dB on the

music’s loudest passages.'Turn the knob to the right .
