Maintenance
Screen

The Maintenance screen (Figure 4-6) allows performing test and maintenance
functions. BERTs are performed by using on-board test facilities. No other test
equipment is needed. Actions initiated by relevant fields are detailed in the
following paragraphs.

Clear Tests

Pressing Enter clears the BERT and any loops that have been initiated.

Clear Alarms

Pressing Enter causes all near-end alarms to be cleared.

T1 Loop

Used to select the test loops initiated. The normal operating mode and available
loopback options are detailed in Figure 4-7 through Figure 4-11.

T1 Unloop

Pressing Enter on this field takes down the specified loop.

FAR LLB

This switch allows selecting how in-band line loopback code is transmitted: framed
or unframed per ANSI T1.403.

This does not activate the transmission of the loop code.

Port Loop

Used to loop a high-speed DTE port at the near or far end (see Figure 4-11 and
Table 4-4 on page 49) far-end loops use V.54 loop codes to activate. To enable the
V.54 function, refer to page 60.
