Note

: You can swap TX and RX at the hub.

You can connect two nodes in a point-to-point configuration without
using a hub. However, you must configure the cable so that the TX+/-
Data pins connect to the RX+/- Data pins (swapped) at the opposite
ends of the cable (see Figure 2-18).

The maximum length of one segment (CPU to hub) is 100 meters (328
feet). The use of Category 5 shielded cable is recommended.

2.4 Radios and Modems

ControlWave ExpressPAC supports several different third-party
radios/modems. You can:

 order ControlWave ExpressPAC with the radio/modem factory

installed within the enclosure (in front of the battery mounting
bracket)

 order the unit without a radio/modem and then order the supported

radio/modem from Emerson separately, and install it yourself. This
option is called “radio-ready.” If you choose to install it yourself,
you must ensure that the remote antenna (associated with a case-
mounted radio) is properly installed and connected.

For information on configuring the third party radio/modem, see the
documentation from the manufacturer.

For information on installing a radio in a radio-ready unit, see the
ControlWave Radio Ready Installation Guide (D5138).

2.5 Optional Display/Keypads

The ControlWave ExpressPAC supports two optional display/keypads
and a display without a keypad:

A 2-button keypad (shown in the left of Figure 2-19)
 A 25-button keypad (shown in the right Figure 2-19)
