3. Tilt ramps of fifth wheel downward
(Figure 5).
4. Make sure locks are open (Figure 6). If
locks are closed, slide release handle to
the left and pull all the way out (Figure
7). Pry locks open with lever bar.
5. Inspect leading edge of trailer bolster/skid
plate. It MUST be free of any square or
sharp edges (Figure 8).
6. Make sure there are no bolts or nuts
extending below bolster/skid plate
within 152 mm (6.0") of the fifth
wheel travel path while coupling.
