Installation overview
The software for the HP Color LaserJet 1600 printer comes on a single CD. On computers running
Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the Setup program
installs the HP Color LaserJet 1600 printing-system software from the CD onto the hard disk and
updates Microsoft Windows files.
NOTE The Setup program is not supported for Microsoft Windows 98 SE or Microsoft Windows
Me. You must use a plug-and-play installation for these operating systems. For more information,

For all of the supported platforms, each install option presents a series of query dialog boxes that guide
you through the installation process. You provide information about your computer environment, and
the Installer guides you through the installation.
