Part 2b - Creating a Desktop Printer

(via EtherTalk)

1. Confirm that the Macintosh is properly

configured to communicate over
EtherTalk. Go to the Apple menu, then
to Control Panels and to AppleTalk. In
the AppleTalk window, confirm that the
“Connect via:” selection is set to
Ethernet. Close the control panel. Click
Save if prompted to save settings.

2. Make sure that all steps in the

Hardware Setup section of this manual
have been followed. Follow the
Macintosh installation steps in Part 1
of this section. In Step 9, select
“AppleTalk” as the connection method
and click “Setup Printer.”

Due to potential incompatibilities between Apple’s Desktop Printer Utility and certain
AppleTalk networks, GCC does not recommend using the Apple Desktop Printer Utility to
set up the Elite 21 series printer over EtherTalk. As a result, the Elite 21 Series
software uses the Chooser to set up the printer over EtherTalk rather than the Desktop
Printer Utility. Follow these steps to setup your printer over an EtherTalk connection.
