Wi-Fi Status Indicators

The following icons indicate the Wi-Fi connection status:

Displays when Wi-Fi is connected, active, and
communicating with a Wireless Access Point (WAP).
Displays when Wi-Fi is active and there is an available
open wireless network.
Displays when Wi-Fi is configured for a direct
connection to another compatible device in the same
direct communication mode.

Wi-Fi Advanced Settings

The Wi-Fi settings - Advanced menu allows you to set up many of
the device’s Wi-Fi services, including:

Setting the Wi-Fi sleep policy

Viewing the device’s MAC Address

Configuring use of either a DHCP or Static P

To access the Wi-Fi Advanced Settings menu:

Press

and then tap

(Settings)

Wireless and network

Wi-Fi settings.

2.

Press

and then tap Advanced.

Tethering

This option allows you to share your phone’s mobile data
connection via a direct USB connection between your phone and
computer.

Note: You can also create a wireless access point that can be used by multiple

computers. For more information, refer to “Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot” on

page 159.

Note: You can not mount your phone’s microSD card to your computer while

using the USB tethering feature. If additional software or USB drivers

are required, navigate to

http://www.samsung.ca

and select Support 

1.

Press

and then tap

(Settings)

Wireless and network

Tethering and portable hotspot.

2.

Connect the USB cable between your computer and your
phone.

3.

Tap USB tethering from the Tethering menu. This places a
green check mark next to the entry and activates the
feature. The Tethering active icon

appears in the

Status bar.
