Error Messages

If the unit detects a problem, one or more of the following messages will appear on the display.

There is something wrong with the unit. Contact our service
personnel.

CALL SERVICE

The document was not fed into the unit properly. Reinsert the
document. If misfeeding occurs frequently, clean the document
feeder rollers (p. 86) and try again.

CHECK DOCUMENT

The memory (telephone numbers, parameters, etc.) has been
erased. Re-program.

CHECK MEMORY

COVER OPEN

The recording paper is not installed or the unit has run out of
paper. Install paper and press

w

to clear the message.

The recording paper is not fed into the unit properly. Reinstall
paper (p. 15) and press

w

to clear the message.

The recording paper has jammed near the recording paper
entrance. Clear the jammed paper (p. 86) and press

w

to

clear the message. Do not install folded or heavily curled paper.

CHECK PAPER

The unit has a document in memory. See the other displayed
message instructions to print out the document.

FAX IN MEMORY

The memory is full of received documents due to a lack of
recording paper or a recording paper jam. Install paper or clear
the jammed paper.

When performing memory transmission, the document being
stored exceeds the memory capacity of the unit. Transmit the
entire document manually.

FAX MEMORY FULL

When making a copy, the document being stored exceeds the
memory capacity of the unit. Press

to clear the message.

Divide the document into sections.

MEMORY FULL

Base unit

There is no space to store new items in the directory. Erase
unnecessary items (p. 31).

DIRECTORY FULL

The covers are open. Close them.

The ink film is empty. Replace the ink film with a new one (p. 13).

The ink film is not installed. Install it (p. 13).

The ink film is slack. Tighten it (see step 7 on page 14).

There is no room left in memory to record a voice message.
Erase unnecessary messages (p. 59, 60, 66).
