Lubrication

Jackshaft Bearing Greasing

Loosen the driven clutch retaining bolt

and pull the clutch outward to expose the

bearing and grease fitting. Inject grease

into the grease fitting in the flangette

until grease purges from inside or

outside the bearing seal (may take only

two pumps). Push the clutch back onto

the shaft and replace the clutch retaining bolt. Torque to 18 ft. lbs.

(24.4 Nm).

Driveshaft Bearing Greasing

Inject grease into the fitting on the

speedometer drive adaptor until grease

purges from inside or outside the

bearing seal (approximately two pumps).

Throttle Cable

Lubricate the throttle cable (1) lightly

with grease or oil. With the engine off,

turn the handlebars to the left and

lubricate liberally as shown.

Choke and Cable

Lubricate the choke slide (2) and cables

lightly with oil or grease. Before

turning the engine off, operate the choke

intermittently to draw moisture out of

the choke plunger area and reduce the

possibility of the choke becoming

frozen.
