This section describes the procedures used to set up and connect a configured
Passport 4400.

Note: For the purposes of this document, the term “configured” refers

to the Passport 4400 unit in which all expansion modules have
been previously installed and operational.

Preparing the Site

Before connecting the 4400, select a location that conforms to the following
environmental requirements:

space requirements (Figure 2-1).

surrounding temperature (Table 2-1).

• distance to the ac socket (if unit is ac-powered) – the supplied power cord

is 6 feet (1.8m) long.

Note: For information about installing the Passport 4400 in a rack, see

Passport 4400 Rack Installation, below.
