Installing an Expansion Module

Modules should be set for the appropriate application when they arrive from the
factory. If changes need to be made to the module, such as setting jumpers or
switches, refer to the section that specifically covers the module. To install an
expansion module, us the following procedures.

Note: Make sure that you have adequate clearance, at least 6 inches

(15 cm) above the cover and on the sides of the unit, to
accommodate the use of a screwdriver.

To complete these procedures you will need a Phillips screwdriver, size 1 or 2.

Procedure 12:

Installing an expansion module

1.

Remove the power from the unit by unplugging the cord from the wall socket.

Unscrew the four screws (two on each side of the cover). Save the screws.

3.

Push the cover toward the back of the unit until the front flanges are
uncoupled.

4.

Lift off the cover.

5.

Remove blank back panels as required.

Caution:

Modules cannot be inserted into or removed from the unit while
the Passport 4400 unit is operating. This could cause damage to
the unit or interruption of network service or both.

When working inside the unit, be sure to take all precautions

against electrostatic discharge.
