RS-232 Connection and
Port Configuration

To interface the Vision 50 with a home theater automation/control system or a PC running
terminal emulation software:

1.

Connect it to your control system or PC as shown in Figure 3-13.

2.

Start a terminal session on your PC using a terminal-emulation program, such as
HyperTerminal.

3.

Configure the RS-232 controller or PC serial port as follows: no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop
bit and no flow control. Set the baud rate to match that of the projector (115200, 38400
or 9600).

4.

Press <Enter>. You should see a command prompt (>) in the terminal window.

5.

Type a command from among those listed in Table 6-1 and press <Enter>. For
example, to change the aspect ratio to Letterbox, type x063x <Enter>.

Serial Command Syntax

Serial commands to the Vision 50 take the following form:

• Commands are in ASCII format.

• Commands are not case-sensitive; X001X and x001x are equivalent.

• A carriage return MUST follow each command.

The Vision 50 will not accept serial commands for 20 seconds after it is
turned on or off.
