The newest release of ATM operating software, Version 4.1, offers a number of new features and
benefits. These include:

. The rendering of gray-scale images

has been improved significantly. The availability of a more life-like rendering of mono-
chrome graphics can make the use of these images a more appealing option in certain appli-
cations.

. ATM Software Release 4.1 delivers support for

the new 256-color display feature of Triton Systems ATMs. Ad Graphic screens can now be
displayed using a richer palette of 256 colors.

. ATM Software Release 4.1 implements support for the

Message Authentication Code (MAC) data encryption protocol. This capability is typically
referred to as “MAC-ing”. This feature provides increased protection for message traffic to
and from the ATM. The SPED option (described next) is required to take advantage of
MAC-ing

. The newest ATM EPROM upgrade, along with Soft-

ware Release 4.1, support an optional feature of Triton Systems ATMs known as the Secure
PIN Entry Device, or SPED. SPED is an encryption system that offers additional protection
of the customer PIN during entry at the ATM keypad. SPED is an option, and is only re-
quired if MAC-ing support is desired
.

. ATM Software Release 4.1 is

DATAPAK 3000 protocol-compliant. This new capability enables the ATM to interface with
designated DATAPAK intermediaries (in the Canadian market region), who in turn provide
connectivity to the appropriate transaction processor. DATAPAK 3000 connectivity is typi-
cally faster and more cost-effective than a direct dial-up connection between the ATM and
the transaction processor. This feature is only available for ATMs operating in Canada.

EQUIREMENT

The new features of ATM Software Release 4.1 require a corresponding upgrade to the Cash
Dispenser’s EPROM chip, which is located on the Memory Module. The EPROM version re-
quired is SD02.01 or higher.
