Installing HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Software for Microsoft Exchange
Install HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Software for Microsoft Exchange on a host computer where
Microsoft Exchange is running.
During the installation, an automated installer checks to make sure you have the correct authority
and then runs a check to see whether the required components are installed. You are then guided
through the steps required to install the components that are necessary for HP 3PAR Recovery
Manager Software for Microsoft Exchange to function properly.
To run the installation, you must have Microsoft 2008 or R2 with administrative and Power user
privileges. The 4.3.0 installer will guide you to install following all required components:

Microsoft .NET Framework
•
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package
•
3PAR CLI (3.1.1 MU1 or above)
•
3PAR VSS Provider 2.1.1 for Microsoft
NOTE: For details on system requirements, see the latest HP 3PAR Configuration Matrix.
WARNING! Before installing Recovery Manager, create a backup of your repository data.
CAUTION: Back up your data before upgrading the Recovery Manager or all data will be lost.
See “Upgrading to Recovery Manager for Exchange” (page 19) for instructions on performing a
backup.
NOTE: HP recommends that you install the application directly from the system console. If you
perform the installation using a remote desktop connection, you need to log off and log in again
after the installation has completed.
1. Log on as System Administrator.
NOTE: In order to log in as the System Administrator, you must have system administrator
rights.
NOTE: If the current user is not part of the administrative group, then the installation does
not continue.
2. Insert the Recovery Manager CD into the CD-ROM drive.
3. Open a Windows Explorer window by clicking Start
→All Programs→Accessories→Windows
Explorer.
4. Click the CD-ROM drive to expand the files.
5. Double-click Setup.exe to launch the installation wizard.
When you first initiate the installation, the system prerequisites are checked to make sure all
of the necessary components required to run HP 3PAR Recovery Manager Software for Microsoft
Exchange are installed. If a necessary component is missing, you are guided through the steps
to perform the necessary installation and the overall progress is shown for completing that
step in the process.
NOTE: If you click Start, all prerequisites will be installed in default folder. If you want to
change folder then click on hyperlink to install all perquisites one by one and all options to
change.
During the process for each step, you are prompted for the appropriate information needed
to install the associated component.
