type 3390-M can only be used, if you use multiple pair tables on the mainframe
system.

Conditions for the number of pairs that you can create:
Maximum number of relationships that satisfies
Maximum number of relationships that satisfies ( ) .
◦ means the total number of differential tables per relationship.
◦ means the number of differential tables available in the storage system.
◦ ( ) means the total number of pair tables per relationship.
◦ stands for the number of pair tables available in the storage system.
and will differ according to the installed additional shared memory. For details, see
“Additional Shared Memory for Differential Tables” (page 15) .
For example, if you create 10 relationships of 3390-3 and 20 relationships of 3390-L in the
storage system that is not installed (an additional shared memory for differential tables and
pair tables) the total number of differential tables per relationship will be as follows:
◦ : (3 x 10) + (24 x 20) = 510
The total number of pair tables per relationship will be as follows:
◦ ( ) : (1 x 10) + (1 x 20) = 30
Because 510 26,176 and 30 8,192 is true, you can create all the relationships that
you want to create.
Cautions on Turning Off the Power While Using Version 1
If you have to switch off the power supply for the storage system during Version 1 operations, first
complete the background copying operation for the Version 1 relationship, and then turn off the
power supply. If you turn off the power supply before the background copying operation is
completed, the shared memory may be volatilized when you turn on the power supply again. The
Version 1 relationship will be released, and the T-VOL will be blocked.
Installing and Uninstalling Version 1
This section describes how to install and uninstall Version 1.

Installing Version 1
If Version 2 is currently installed, it must be uninstalled before installing Version 1. For details about
uninstalling Version 2, see
“Uninstalling Version 2” (page 74) . To install Version 1 and uninstall
Version 2, perform the following steps:
To install Version 1:
1. Enter the license key for Compatible FlashCopy in the Remote Web Console window.
Do not click Apply at this point.
2. Perform either of the following to disable Version 2:

Select Compatible FlashCopy V2 and click Uninstall in the Remote Web Console window.
•
Select Compatible FlashCopy V2 and set the License Status to Disable. You can disable
the license status only when the license key type is Permanent or Term.
