SAS drive options

When adding drives to the server, observe the following general guidelines:

The system automatically sets all device numbers.

If only one drive is used, install it in the bay with the lowest device number ("

SAS and SATA device

numbers

" on page

15

).

Drives must be the same capacity to provide the greatest storage space efficiency when drives are
grouped together into the same drive array.

Installing a hot-plug drive option

The server supports SAS, SATA, or solid state drives.

CAUTION:

To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server or the

enclosure unless all drive and device bays are populated with either a component or a blank.

To install the component:
