10.4.7.2 Remote

Password

A password may be set to prevent unauthorised remote access. Set to all zeros if the revision of remote
access software (“VI-Connect”) used does not support password protection.

10.4.7.3

Remote Covert Cameras

Cameras may each be set as visible or hidden (covert) when accessed remotely via PSTN or ISDN. Note
that only cameras that are currently recording may be viewed live.

10.4.7.4 Network

Settings

10.4.7.4.1 Network

Interface

The setting of this option depends on whether or not there is a remote access module is fitted into the rear of
the VDM.

• If a VDM-PSTN module is fitted, select “PSTN”
• If a VDM-ISDN module is fitted, select “ISDN”
• If a VDM-ETHERNET module is fitted, select “ETHERNET”
• If no option modules are fitted, select “RS232” (factory default).

10.4.7.4.2 IP

Address

If the Ethernet option module is being used, enter a valid IP Address here. The address is entered using the
camera keys 1..9 for numbers 1 to 9, camera key 10 for zero, and camera key 11 for a dot.

Alternatively, press the

DEFAULT

key to default the address to:

192.168.16.50

In order to view images on a PC, the software “Vi-connect” must be installed, and the IP address must be
entered as part of the “site” information for this VDM.

If a PSTN or ISDN option module is being used, the address may be used for a telephone number for testing
the ISDN or PSTN connection. Press

ALT and

to select the modem monitoring mode. Make sure that

“CTS” is displayed (not BSY), then press

ALT and to dial or end a call.

If you have a PSTN option module, you can enter the number of a telephone, and can check that the phone
rings to test the PSTN line. Press

ALT and again to terminate the call. Press ALT and

again to exit

the modem monitoring mode

10.4.7.4.3 Sub-Net

Mask

The Sub-Net Mask may be set in the same manner as the IP Address.

10.4.7.4.4 Gateway

The Gateway may be set in the same manner as the IP Address.

10.4.7.4.5 Port

If the Ethernet option module is being used, enter a valid Port number. The port number is entered using the
camera keys 1..9 for numbers 1 to 9 and camera key 10 for zero.

Alternatively, press the

DEFAULT

key to default the port number to:

9221

10.4.7.4.6 PSTN

Rings

This determines how may rings occur before the PSTN modem (if fitted) answers an incoming call.

10.4.7.4.7 ISDN Answer Mode

The ISDN answer mode may be set to:

• Normal – An incoming ISDN call will always be answered if it is of the correct type (i.e. V120)
• Sub-Address – If this option is set, an incoming call will only be answered if it is of the correct type

(i.e. V120) and a sub address is specified from the calling end which matches the “ISDN MSN/Sub-
Address”
