In the special case where the card eject capacitor is being used and the 12 volt supply to the
IntelliStripe 320 is being shared with another device in the system, a diode needs to be connected
in series with the 12 volt supply line to the IntelliStripe 320. This is required to prevent the card
eject capacitor from discharging into the external device when a power failure occurs. If the card
eject capacitor discharges into a external device, the capacitor may not have enough power left to
eject a card. This diode should be a low voltage drop (.3 volt) type in order to make the
IntelliStripe 320 input voltage still meet the specified 12 volts +- 5%. Using a high voltage drop
(.6 volt) type may cause false power failure detections in the IntelliStripe 320. This diode should
be rated at 1.5 amps or higher.
