Listening to audio from a
connected component

Connect the audio cords.

Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “MD”
or “VIDEO” appears.

Start playing the connected component.

Tip

If you cannot select “VIDEO” by pressing
FUNCTION repeatedly, turn off the system, then
press ?/1 while pressing FUNCTION. The function
will change from “MD” to “VIDEO”, and “VIDEO”
will appear in the display. To change back to “MD”,
repeat this procedure.

Note

You cannot perform the above procedure during
Power Saving Mode.

Enjoying the 5.1 channel
sound with the optional
amplifier

By connecting this unit to the optical input jack
of the optional amplifier eqipped with Dolby
Digital or DTS decoder, you can enjoy the 5.1
channel sound. Connect 6 speakers to the
amplifier.
For the speaker placement, refer to the
operating instructions supplied with the
amplifier.

Connect the digital optical cable.

Press FUNCTION repeatedly until
“DVD” appears.

Tip

It is recommended to use the surround effect such as
5.1 channel Dolby Digital or DTS sound through the
amplifier. You cannot use the surround effect of this
unit.

Note

When you enjoy the 5.1 channel sound through the
optional amplifier, set the volume on this unit to
minimum.

Recording on a connected
component

Connect the digital optical cable.

Start recording.

Refer to the operating instructions provided
with connected component.

Note

You can digitally record from the discs only.
However, you cannot record from copy prohibited
discs.
