13.3 Cannot configure settings/cannot send faxes according to the
settings
Check the following items when you cannot configure settings of the fax driver or cannot send a fax accord-
ing to the settings you have configured.

- Some items for the fax driver may not be configured simultaneously.
Problem Cause Remedy
Cannot select
items in the FAX
driver printing
preferences dia-
log box. Some functions cannot
be combined. Grayed out items cannot be configured.
A "conflict" mes-
sage saying "una-
ble to configure"
or "function will
be cancelled" ap-
pears. You are trying to config-
ure the functions that
cannot be combined. Check carefully the functions you have specified, and
then specify the functions that can be combined.
Cannot send a fax
according to the
settings you have
configured. The settings may not be
configured correctly. Check the setting of each item of the fax driver.
The selected functions
can be combined in the
fax driver, but not on this
machine.
The paper size or paper
orientation specified in
the application may take
precedence over the set-
tings in the fax driver
when sending a fax. Configure settings in the application correctly.
Garbled charac-
ters are detected
in the destination. It may be impossible to
obtain any outline image
from the OS. When garbled characters are detected in the destina-
tion, set download fonts to bitmap fonts, and also set
printer fonts to OFF.
