Procedure After Removing a Redundant Power Supply and Redundant
FAN

The SMC board monitors any removal of a power supply and fan. If a
redundant power supply or redundant fan is removed, it will be detected and a
fault lamp will start blinking. To stop the fault lamp’s blinking, you must use
the Sensor Data & LCD Setup Tool to deactivate the redundant power supply
sensor or fan sensor on the SMC board. (It is re-activated automatically if an
additional power supply is installed.) Follow the procedure below:

1 Insert the Sensor Data & LCD Setup Tool floppy disk into the floppy disk

drive.

2 Turn on the server.

3 The following menu choices will appear:

Choose option “1. Setup SMC Board Sensor Data”

4 The program will show the current number of power supplies and fan mod-

ule.

5 Enter the new number of power supplies. The program will respond with

“OK.” To exit the program, press the <Esc> key.

2. Setup LCD Display Message

3. Setup Expansion HDD Chassis Sensor Data
